Ppan 2026
Doorstop
Ppan gives a familiar household object the quiet presence of a resting cat. Its low, rounded body sits at the edge of a doorway, holding the door open while everyday life moves around it. A simple silhouette and two small ears give the form character without adding detail.
FORM
A quiet companion
The broad base and compact body give Ppan a grounded stance. Soft transitions bring the head and body into one continuous form, while a fine matte texture keeps the surface understated.
Front and profile studies of the continuous form.
MATERIAL
Weight within, softness outside
The proposed construction pairs a weighted steel core with a matte TPU overmold. The core provides mass, while the outer layer is intended to soften contact with the door and floor. Material grade, core weight and grip remain to be developed through prototypes.
Material and surface visualization. Final construction is still under development.
IN CONTEXT
A small presence in passing
Ppan sits close to the floor. Its scale becomes clear beside a passing foot, turning a small functional object into part of the room.
AI-assisted scale visualization.
MOTION STUDY
A moment of pause
A short study explores the simple interaction between Ppan and an interior door. The door moves away, returns gently and comes to rest against the weighted form.
AI-generated concept animation. Holding performance has not been physically tested.
