As society embraces a renewed appreciation for culinary experiences and home dining, oysters have become a symbol of luxury and celebration. Many existing oyster knives prioritize function over design, missing the opportunity to become sculptural objects that can be an accent on the table.
Heron is culptural oyster knife with ergonomics and elegance.
HAND & FORM
Shaping the grip
The grip study compares palm-reinforced and modified-saber positions. These offer two ways of holding the tool and provide a reference for shaping the handle.

PHYSICAL TO DIGITAL
Shape, scan, refine
Clay sketch models established the initial volumes. The forms were 3D-scanned and refined digitally in Meshmixer and Maya. Printed prototypes were filled with concrete to explore the feel of added weight.
FINAL
One continuous surface
A rounded handle transitions into the tapered blade. The material and finish are mirror-polished 316L stainless steel.
